Pink Friday Is Coming. Are You In?

Black Friday may get the big headlines, but Pink Friday puts small businesses in the spotlight.

You've got holiday inventory to move, sales goals to hit, and customers to bring through the door. So why not take advantage of an opportunity designed to help independent retailers get ahead of the holiday shopping rush?

Created by The Boutique Hub in 2020, Pink Friday is a nationwide shopping event celebrating independent retailers and small businesses. Held the Friday before Black Friday, it's all about encouraging shoppers to support their favorite small businesses first.

And as proud Boutique Hub Members ourselves (yes, we're in the club!), we couldn't be more excited to spread the word.

Why Should Your Boutique Participate?

The holiday shopping season can get pretty noisy, especially when big-box retailers start rolling out their Black Friday deals. Pink Friday gives you a chance to get ahead of the rush, welcome new customers, reconnect with your regulars, and remind your community why shopping small is worth celebrating.

Think about it: Behind every small business is someone who took a chance, built something from the ground up, and poured a whole lot of heart into making it happen. When customers choose to shop small, they're supporting more than a purchase. They're supporting someone's dream, a local family, a neighborhood storefront, and the people who make their community special.

And that's worth celebrating!

So, How Can You Celebrate?

Good news: You don't need a huge event budget or an elaborate plan to get involved. Whether you have a storefront, an online shop, or both, there are plenty of ways to make Pink Friday your own.

Make a day of it. Give customers a reason to stop in with a little in-store celebration. Think complimentary refreshments, a shopping party, a special playlist, or a few festive decorations. Sometimes the best shopping experiences are about more than what's on the shelves.

Give your customers a little something extra. A gift with purchase, exclusive Pink Friday promotion, loyalty perk, or fun giveaway can make the day feel special. It doesn't have to be a massive discount to make someone's day!

Team up with your neighbors. Partner with other local businesses for a shopping crawl, shared giveaway, or cross-promotion. Encourage customers to visit a few of their favorite local spots and make a day of supporting small.

Show off the people behind your business. Introduce your team, share a little of your story, or spotlight some of your favorite products and the makers behind them. Your customers aren't just shopping for merchandise. They're building relationships with the people who make your business what it is.

Spread the word online. Give your social media followers a heads-up, send an email to your customer list, or share a sneak peek of what's happening. Use Pink Friday hashtags and encourage your customers to share their purchases, too. A little excitement goes a long way!

Make every purchase feel like a celebration. Even if you're not hosting an event or running a promotion, you can still participate by making your customers' shopping experience feel a little extra special. A handwritten thank-you, thoughtful gift wrapping, or festive shopping bag can turn an everyday purchase into something worth remembering.

The best part? There's no one-size-fits-all way to participate. Do what makes sense for your business, your customers, and your community.

Let's Get a Little Pink on Your Packaging

If you're going to celebrate shopping small, why not dress the part?

Whether you're sending customers home with pink euro totes and paper shopping bags, packing up a sweet treat in bakery boxes, or making a purchase feel extra special with a jewelry box and coordinating tissue paper, a little color goes a long way. And with the holidays right around the corner, you can even mix in some festive holiday tissue paper to keep the seasonal spirit going.

It's a fun way to carry the Pink Friday celebration beyond your storefront, give customers something to smile about, and remind them where they shopped.
