First Thing’s First: What Exactly Is a Printing Plate?

We know that to many of our customers, at first some of our lingo can feel a bit overwhelming.

Don’t worry – we’re here to break it down for you.

Essentially, printing plates are used to transfer your customized design onto your retail shopping bags or other customizable product – they’re what your design is “printed” from. Printing plates mean you don’t need to create a new plate (basically, a new “stamp” of your design) every time you reorder. Once we’ve created the plate, we’ll keep it on file for you and your business, which will help to speed up the re-order process.

At Mid-Atlantic Packaging, we offer both hot stamping and ink printing options. In the most basic terms, hot stamping means that a matte, gloss, or metallic foil is heated and then pressed onto a shopping bag or other customizable product. Ink printing, on the other hand, will leave you with a matte, flat look – as though the design has just been “printed” on the bag.

Both hot stamping and ink printing are excellent options, depending on the complexity of the art and the quantity of the order. You might also take into consideration the type of retail shopping bag you’re using in order to figure out which method you prefer. Still not 100% clear? Now, More About the Promotion

Now that you’re an expert on the actual process of ink printing and hot stamping, we want to tell you a little bit more about the promotion we’re offering .

Here are the basics:

While some restrictions will apply, here’s the basic gist: we buy the plates for you and, based on your art, have new plates created – as long as you want to keep your current design, you won’t have to reorder plates with the exact same customization from us. Please note that we will not be able to offer this deal if you’re making any changes to your current customized artwork.

Keep in mind that every color you’ve chosen to include in your design will require its own, separate plate. Meaning, if you have, for example, three colors, you’ll need to purchase three separate printing plates.
